A Project for Nepal

BE STRONG is a charitable, humanitarian organization established to support the Chhahari Child Development Centre – a children’s home in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Together with its sponsors, BE STRONG has campaigned for the reconstruction as well as the further development of the children’s home following the heavy earthquake in April 2015. Kathmandu was amongst the region’s affected most severely. Many inhabitants lost their lives and hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless or were badly injured with entire villages flattened by the earth quake or the avalanches triggered thereafter. For this reason, it is near and dear to us that we can help providing a safe environment for the children, in order for them to have a future full of prosperity.

We are also working in close cooperation with the Swiss NGO ROKPA with runs a food kitchen in Boudha during the winter months. This project is supporting children from less privileged backgrounds, normally from families lacking the capacity to provide for their children on an educational or formational level. Before taking the decision concerning an uptake in the children’s home, the children are monitored and assessed throughout a longer time period during their visits at the food kitchen. As these children are not any orphans we strive to maintain and uphold the relationship with their parent by supporting occasional visits and home stays during school holidays.

At BE STRONG, every child has an appointed sponsor. The yearly contribution of such sponsor amounts to NRP 60’000 to 80’000 which supports the child in its livelihood until it can provide for itself.

There is a further cooperation of the Chhahari Foundation with the Sunshine School. All the children of the children’s home attend this privately-run Sunshine School which was established in 2002 in cooperation with a Nepalese and a Swiss donor. To date, it comprises of ten classes, teaching from elementary level up to graduation.

With all our heart we thank everyone who helps supporting these children in any possible way!
